Old time fiddle player "Hammerin'" Haney Hatfield discusses how Jimi Hendrix influenced his playing

In a rare historic interview from August 1991, old time fiddle player "Hammerin' Haney Hatfield" discusses how Jimi Hendrix influenced his playing.

How did "Electric Ladyland" change his life ?

With his unique use of distortion and feedback, Hammerin' Haney created a one of a kind sound. He was one of the only old time fiddle players to use feedback and distortion as a weapon against his audience.

Amateur videotape footage but a historic interview all the same ! ! !

Mr. Hatfield was a regional musician. He passed away in early 1993. He performed as a sideman for dances and on a few live radio broadcast from Mineral Wells, TX in the mid to late 1930s. He was usually requested to sit in when the producer wanted a rougher sounding fiddle player. He performed mainly Hillbilly and Western Swing music during this time period.
Even though he could sing in the style of Jimmie Rodgers and other popular country acts of the time, Mr. Hatfield was not comfortable being the focus of attention.

For the next few decades music took a secondary role to work and raising a family.

He had a passion for all styles of music but had to be talked into performing in his later years.
